Join our experienced local guides for a 4 Wheel Drive overland expedition into the wild high country of the Southern Lakes District. The areas we visit really deserve spending as much time as possible. That is why we offer the opportunity to visit over 2 days. Join us for an overnight expedition where we use Land Rover 4 wheel drive vehicles to access our camping areas. We take everything with us and pitch tents and cook in the open air. By staying longer, not rushing in and rushing out, we have time to explore the historic gold rush diggings and high country life of these iconic New Zealand destinations.
Skippers Canyon Overnight Camping Adventure $279
The Skippers Road is one of New Zealand's most famous, and dramatic back country roads. We take time to explore this incredible feat of engineering from the 1880's while traveling above the gold bearing Shotover River. On reaching our camp site we pitch our tents and investigate the historic township of Skippers. While here we share stories of the families who farmed this mountainous and dangerous area, while showing you where recent events such as bungy jumping and filming for Lord of the Rings took place.

Macetown Overnight Camping Adventure $289
Take the opportunity to sleep overnight at the ruins of historic of Macetown. The journey takes us along the historic Macetown Road, where we take in the rugged landscape and when in season pick wild fruits to compliment our evening meal. After driving through the Arrow River 26 times we arrive at our camp site. Experience what it must have been like for the first settlers, sleeping in tents and dinning in the open air. But don't be concerned, this area is not full of ghosts, but renowned for the glory days of lucky gold strikes and festivities. Please ask about options to walk or mountain bike out.
